I figured out some time ago that I've gotten over my "OMG NEED" to be popular.
I don't look at my pageview count nearly as much as I used to, and I've completely stopped hoping for growing numbers of comments and faves. And I'm cool with that.  I'm perfectly happy with the humble status I've achieved here on dA, as well as the small handful of fans I've collected. Early on I'd hoped to be one of those famous artists that always gets their deviations on the frontpage. Then later, I found out these artists get a LOT of drama, so instead I strived to be "popular, but not famous". One of those that rarely gets on the front page, but are still well liked and get lots of pageviews and hundreds of faves on everything they do. Now, I don't care so much anymore. I'm happy just to have somebody say they recognize my art.  |
