I think the universe is out to make sure I'm not happy.
I just got my mac back from the Apple store (after having to take it over there twice for repairs).
Everything's working properly and hunky dory.
Except now my PC decided it wants to keep giving me the blue screen of death ten minutes after booting in!
WTF?! This is Windows X-f*ing-P!!! XP doesn't get the blue screen of death!
I thought Windows had evolved PAST the blue screen of death! WTF?!
It's really annoying! And when it does decide to stay on for more than ten minutes, I can't get Everquest to work!
Edit: I've discovered that it's not just Everquest, but also all my other online games as well as all of my browsers. The only internet-related programs that work are my two Instant Messengers (AIM and MSN).
This only adds to my extreme hatred for Windows. ¬_¬
If the slightest little thing goes wrong, the whole thing goes kaput, and there's nothing you can do to fix it except format the thing and start over. ><
PCs are great, but Windows sucks ass. I hate Windows. Windows needs to die. Did I mention how much I hate Windows? Oh yeah, and it sucks too.
I wish there was SOME alternative that DOESN'T require having mad computer programming skills! (and, more importantly, will run my games!)
If I could run my games on my mac, I wouldn't need my PC at all, but then I'd still have to deal with the mac's hardware issues.
Arrrrg! Stupid computers. ><
And on top of all that, I've hit a writer's block.
I hate writer's block. I haven't had a real block in a very long time, and now I'm totally blocked. ><
Grrrrrr! I'm not happy, Bob. Not happy.

Windows does suck sometimes, I feel for you.

There's not a lot you can say with words, honey.
It says that Windows had a critical error and had to be shut down.
And then it has a "memory dump" counter at the bottom of the screen. (don't ask me what that means, I haven't a clue)

There's not a lot you can say with words, honey.
- hardware defects (mostly RAM, CPU or video card, sometimes harddrive)
- driver mess-ups
Checking the RAM is best done using memtest86 (you have to download the zip containing the ISO image and use it to create a bootable CD). This is no beginners tool but you can't damage anything. Read the webpage and if you roughly understand what they are talking about, then give it a try.
You should check your harddrive by right-clicking your C: drive in Explorer and pick properties. Go to "Extras", there you have the harddrive check. Acivate both repair options. Your PC will want to reboot for the check and it takes quite a while so do it when you don't need the PC for a couple of hours.
It has already been suggested to install the latest video card driver. Can't hurt either (and is the easiest task so you might want to try that first).
I really really hate Windows right now. >=\

Because it won't connect to anything on a program that isn't an instant messenger.
I can connect on AIM and MSN messenger, but I can't connect on any browser or online game.
But I'll see about doing that harddrive check.

But there is a "Tools" tab and under that there's an "Error-checking" box. Is that it?

It's running the check now.
We'll see if that fixes it. =/

I suggest that you go online using a working (clean) PC and download a fresh copy of the free Dr Web "CureIT" virus remover (it's a single executable file, no installation required). Put it on an USB stick and run it on your PC, preferably after booting your PC into "safe mode" first.
Safe mode is a maintenance mode of Windows where only the absolutely necessary drivers and programs are loaded. You start it by rebooting your PC and once you see the first screen (before the "Windows" startup screen shows up) you start pressing the "F8" key repeatedly until a white-on-black text menu screen appears. Pick "safe more" or "safe mode with network drivers" and continue. Wait for boot to finishd (you might be asked if you really wanted the safe mode. Confirm this) and then plug in the USB stick and launch the CureIT tool. It will offer to run a quick scan. Hopefully nothing will be found. I suggest running the complete scan also though.
CureIT only scans your PC once and removes viruses it finds. It's no permanent protection! ALWAYS use a fresh download as they update daily.
You should always have a current antivirus software installed and keep your Windows up to date with the automatic Windows Update. A very good Antivirus program that's free for private home use can be downloaded from Avira at this address (Made in Germany, yay!
Oh and no I don't get paid for this promotion
Feel free to Google the products I mentioned and find the download links yourself. After all one shouldn't blindly click any download links suggested by strangers...
